Duties
The
Chapter Chair is elected by the members of the Chapter
for a one-year term. This position is normally seen as a
natural progression after holding some or all of the
other elected Executive positions of Treasurer,
Secretary and Vice-Chair. All the elected positions can
be extended for subsequent terms by the process of re-election.
The
Chair is responsible for presiding over all Chapter
meetings and represents the Chapter to ASIS
International and at external functions, performing the
range of duties normally associated with a Chief
Executive Officer.
The
Chair is also the Chair of the Chapter Executive
Committee and serves as the primary point of contact
between the Regional Vice-President and the Chapter.

Duties
The
Chapter Treasurer is an annual elected position. The
Treasurer receives and deposits, in an account in the
name of the chapter, all monies, securities, funds, and
monetary credits of or on behalf of the chapter and
keeps regular accounts of all receipts and disbursements
on behalf of the chapter in suitable books provided for
that purpose. A chequebook is used to simplify the
accounting process.
The Treasurer
collects payments for membership dues and payments from
members and guests for monthly meetings, as well as
collecting payments and pays invoices associated with
other chapter activities (e.g. seminars, award
ceremonies, trade shows, golf tournaments, etc.). The
Treasurer oversees the financial proceeds from Chapter
activities. The Treasurer receives and holds in safety
all property and other physical assets owned by the
chapter.
The Treasurer
prepares and submits a Chapter Activity report of the
accounting of all activities received or disbursed since
the last meeting, as well as the financial status of the
chapter on an annual basis, for approval by the Chapter
Executive. These records are available for inspection by
all officers and chapters members in good standing, and
by authorized representatives of the Executive Committee
of the Board, the Society Treasurer and Regional Vice-President.
The financial records are submitted for independent
audit annually. |
