The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), National Security Investigations Section (NSIS), is the Canadian agency of primary jurisdiction in relation to national security and terrorism investigations. As the national police service, the RCMP is positioned to act on local, regional, national and international investigations in a timely and effective manner.

The RCMP NSIS require the assistance of partner agencies, like members of the ASIS International, Calgary/SouthernAlberta Chapter #162, to better assure success in the protection of communities.

ASIS members are highly respected. As qualified professionals, you know and understand your environments. As such, ASIS members represent and retain a key frontline position to report suspicious activity and information, that may be of interest to RCMP investigators.

It is the goal of the RCMP, in cooperation with private sector partners, to collect information and intelligence in a timely manner to facilitate the disruption, prevention or intervention of terrorist acts before they take place. No tidbit of information is too small.

National security or terrorist incidents do not occur in a vacuum. They are planned, organized and carried out by individuals acting alone or in groups. A few examples of matters of interest would include individuals taking photographs of infrastructure sites, thefts of official identification, stolen company uniforms, computer hackers attempting to gain access to company sites, finding unusual maps or observing what appears to be a surveillance activity.

While the 1-800-420-5805 Terrorism Tip line number facilitates the anonymous reporting of information from the public on a national scale, ASIS, Calgary Chapter members are encouraged to telephone the local RCMP NSIS field office directly at (403) 292-8705 with any information, questions or concerns.

Posters, pamphlets, literature and corporate presentations are available upon request.

The RCMP looks forward to an ongoing working relationship with ASIS.

Thank you.
