Bill 10 (Security
Services and Investigators Act) was
introduced during the spring of 2008 in the
Legislature to replace the
Private Investigators
and Security Guards Act.
The proposed legislation
creates a level playing field for the security
industry, provides a public complaint process and
will provide standards for the industry.
On November 20 2008,
during the ASIS 162 Luncheon, MLA Rob
Anderson provided an overview of the new legislation
and received many questions and suggestions from the
attendees who work in the security industry; they
also expressed many concerns.
MLA Anderson committed himself to bring all those
questions, suggestions and concerns to the attention
of the Legislature for its consideration and do a
new presentation were he would discuss about the
revised Bill.
This presentation
will be done during the luncheon on the 19th of
November 2009,
however, as Rob Anderson is no longer the serving
MLA dealing with the Security Services and
Investigators Act, the speaker providing us with the
promised update to the status of the Legislation
will be Matthew Barker.
